About Nail Scissors

Trimmed and well-groomed fingernails are important for your health, and they also help your hands to look their best! Nail scissors can make trimming ‘difficult’ nails a breeze.

Scissors slice cleanly through the nail, without bending and crushing, making them ideal for thin or soft nails. They can also be opened wide for thick or curved nails that don’t ‘fit’ in clippers.

Their finger holes make them more stable and easier to control for some people who have trouble with clippers.

These high quality nail scissors are made in Italy and feature sharp, specially curved blades to cut with ease. The scissors can be used for long, single cuts to minimize trimming time for large nails. They are also ideal for smaller nails because the tips can be used for shorter, more precise cuts. The curve of the blades follows the natural curve of the nail and the sharp Edges cut, rather than crush the nail, leaving a smoother edge to minimize filing time. They are constructed of strong, carbon steel to make them durable and help them to hold a sharp edge. They are then nickel plated to protect from rust.

How to Care for my Scissors

  • Do not use scissors to cut anything except fingernails. Doing so may dull the blades or damage the tips.
  • Extend the life of your scissors by keeping them dry, especially the insides of the blades.
  • Carbon steel is used for its hardness and durability, so the scissors will stay sharper longer and be more resistant to breaking (particularly the pointed tips). However, carbon steel rusts easily.
  • Nickel plating is used on the outside surfaces of the scissors only (not on the inside of the blades) and is designed to provide some protection against rusting caused by quick contact with moisture. The scissors should be dried after use and stored in a dry place. Long term exposure to moisture, like being kept on a bathroom counter, will cause the scissors to rust. Surface rust can be removed by applying a drop of oil and gently rubbing with fine steel wool.
  • Never wash these scissors, submerge them in liquid or sterilize them in an autoclave. To disinfect, please swab the inside of the blades with rubbing alcohol and allow them to air dry completely.
  • Alcohol will remove the oil from the scissors and may cause their action to be less smooth. To lubricate, place a small drop of oil on the inside of the blades. Then, open and close the scissors to distribute the oil. Wipe any excess oil from the surface.
